Tips for the New Preceptor

Over the course of this past year we've had the privilege of meeting you on tour and connecting in our community. We know now more than ever you're being thrown into a preceptor role and we know how challenging this can be. We wanted to offer you some ideas to support you as a human first and new nurse preceptor second. ❤️
Share your experiences: Don't be afraid to be open and share your story. Story is an amazing tool to help your nurse mentee learn. Funny stories, mistakes, the good, funny situations it's all welcome.
Allow non-critical mistakes: We know mistakes are going to happen and can be good learning opportunities.
Connect as Humans: It's easier to have conversations, learn and teach people when we know and connect with them.
Finish the sentence, If you knew me you would know....
When was the last time you went on a trip or vacation? Where did you go?
Where did you go to nursing school?
What kind of scrubs do you like?
What did you bring for lunch?
